Butterfly Tree
On a contract job in Baltimore, MD for CareFirst I happened to be seated near the “fun group” and they had a tree decorated with a Baltimore Orioles theme. This got me thinking about what I could do with my tree apart from the Christmas season.
I had always had a fresh-cut tree every year until my parents were no longer able to take part in the tradition of going to cut down the tree at the local tree farm. That year they gave me an artificial tree. Since then, rather than take down the tree after Christmas and store it in basement I enjoy decorating the tree for each season of the year.
Shown above is my 6-foot, artificial Spruce tree. For the season of April and May, I have chosen a butterfly theme. I found the skirt online at Amazon, along with the garland flower strings. I don’t know if it shows in the photo, but for ornaments I took scrapbook butterflies and glued them to gold hooks so I could hang the butterflies on the tree, and it would look like butterflies where after the flowers.
My mom loves monarchs, so the skirt is perfect! It reminds me of the milkweed and butterfly bush I have in my front yard to attract monarch butterflies all summer long. In my spare time I sit on my front porch and admire the tree and will watch the for real action later this summer.
